Just wondering your thoughts on this one,a senior moment, installing socket outlets in IT room, all in dado trunking, perimeter & bench power points. The supply is a 3 phase Tpn db,hoping to power each ring on different phases, panicking over the old school rules phases in reach of each other, cheers

Nothing wrong wth it at all. No regs in the BYB to say it cant be done.

Sorted that for you Dillb, keep up mate:smilewinkgrin:

Meh, I still only have the green version. So maybe all my domestic DBs will catch fire before I purchase the yellow one.

It's a bloody joke mate, A rep brought one of the new metal boards into the wholesalers and they are ugly things.

You boys need to leave the forum until you have the BYB .... it has a whole section on IT rooms and socket phasing.....:juggle2:

NAH! just kidding :49:

Got my copy yesterday :)

When we use 3 phases to supply single phase socket outlets in trunking conduit etc, we use conductors with the phase colours to identify which phase is supplying the socket outlet. It was much more effective when using the old Red, Yellow, Blue colours... these new dark tonal colours just don't cut it with me!! lol!!

No longer acceptable.

No longer acceptable.

That doesn't bother me in the slightest, it's perfectly acceptable to me, in this instance it makes perfect sense to do so too....

There must be an awful lot of older previous high spec commercial projects in the UK where the phase colours were used throughout the installation, that no longer meets the current BS 7671 then....

Yes there are.
I once worked at just such an installation.
If I were to carry out an EICR on that installation, where I installed such circuits, I would now apply a code C3.
