Hi,
I fitted a new photocell to an existing circuit and a completely new circuit down the road. The photocell is switching a 1Kw floodlight on both occasions. Neither light will switch on when its supposed to. There is voltage at the cell and polarity is correct. I swopped the cells for 2 new ones with the same result. With no load on the cells they will switch but as soon as the light is attached, nothing. Anybody else had this problem? or can throw some light (sorry) on the subject.

Yes, I've tested the lamp with a direct feed and the lamp works fine. Looks like I will reduce the load and see if it switches. At first I thought it had to be faulty cells but have swopped them with the same results.
Anyway, thanks for your thoughts and I'll let you know the outcome!!

Thanks very much for your help chaps. It turned out to be reversed polarity and some dodgy DIY stuff. I'll go back another day to sort it...
