I have added a photocell to my outside light at home. The photocell has three terminals,

LI
LO
N

I have taken the switched live and put this into the Line In Terminal
I have then connected a switched live from the LO to the live terminal on the outside light
Neutral is connected to a neutral

This diagram shows what i've done. The Light comes on when i switch it on, but just stays on. The photocell doesn't switch it off. Am i missing something?

I have used 3 core and earth from the junction box that feeds the outside light. The earth in the photocell has no terminal. [ElectriciansForums.net] Photocell Problem

Either you have connected a permanent live to your outgoing switch live to light in your junction box or your photocell is broken. Best way to check is to go out remove your photocell if your light stays on the problem is with the wiring.

Yeah i've done that. I took out the photocell and the light wasn't on. I then connected the live in and switched live out from the photocell together and light comes on. Wiring to the photocell is correct, just doesn't work, lol.

How long did you leave it on for, as some times they take about 10 mins to settle in and adjust to the out side light. also with some if you flick the light switch on and off quick it puts it in to permanet mode till morning, when the sun comes up then resets.

Yeah i also thought about that too - lol. i left it on for 2 hours, no change. also didn't do the switch in/off thing. I dont think its that sophisticated, it was about a tenner from screwfix.

Furthermore, as the left hand switch will currently not do anything, I'd try the loose brown in here:
