Always thought makita were for limp wristed chippies
Oh yeah Fair enough, basically I have bought and used every make with the exception of Milwakee I can assure you, and have bought literally 50 battery drills over the last 12 years or so for myself and employees, and the Makita's always seem to last the longest and perform the best, and at the price they are, IMHO and its just my opinion they are the best midrange bit of kit you can get, as the Yanks would say the "best bang for the buck" great cheap and reliable kit in my view, I'm surprised you had the trouble you mentioned.not begrudging the make, im more surprised it happened
Must admit I used to use Dewalt but then saw a hell of a lot of trades, whose use is more frequent and use of power tools more strenuous, using Makita gear, I borrowed a combi and impact and I am now a convert. Got myself a load of Makita gear and wouldn't go back, I have the brushless impact and it's a fantastic bit of kit. My SDS however is not brushless. Hopefully you just got a bad batch
i think your right mate and it was a bad batch.
the gearbox is totalled on it. no where near as much oil in the gearbox as i thought though as nothing really came out till the linkage between selector and gearbox fell out.
the drill ive got bhp 451 has had some right hammer and is works just as well as when i first bought it.
the guy in the shop who deals with returns has never seen this problem before so i think its a manufacturing fault
