Dear Members

Trying to understand the circuit for this unit. I understand that circuit for S31 to S32 and S11 to S12 etc needs to be complete for relay terminal to energise.

My questions are: 1) What are the Y31 and Y32 and S21, S22,S33, and S34 used for at bottom of the unit?

2) What is B1 and B2 used for?

3) How does reset work? ie when reset is pressed, the terminal energises. Where does the wire go for reset on the terminal?

Its impossible to understand how they work unless you have the internal wiring diagram, i am sure you can google such a diagram. All your questions will be answered. This device is a multi-channel, dual voltage unit, lots of options on how to wire it up, depends on your application really.

From reading literature about the unit (found using a Google search with the terms "PILZ PNOZ X3 datasheet")....

Y31 and Y32 appear to be a semiconductor output that conducts when the internal relays K1 and K2 are energised.

B1 and B2 are a DC supply input as an alternative to the AC input on A1, A2

The rest, you'll need to read the data sheet.

Safety relays are usually adaptable to provide coverage for differering circumstances and risk category levels, you really need to know your stuff if you are dabbling in this, it's easy to make the relay work in several ways but you may compromise the safety system requirements in altering it in any way, we would need a full risk assessment of the machine it's control system and much more to advise on this, the minute you do anything to an existing setup then you become responsible for the safety of machine, can you satisfy my concerns on asking such a question in the first place, anyone competent to work on or install such systems would not be asking what you asked in the first place.
