Hi could anyone help please, im trying to put a pir switch onto the wall running straight from the leccy supply but it either stays on all the time or doesnt work, should be simple but really struggling, any help would be appreciated......

Did it stay on all the time when 1st installed and now not working at all??
Could be a faulty pir, Check your lamp hasnt blown also, Is the pir wired into the overide terminal if it has 1 causing it to bypass the pirand wire directly to the lamp?

what about this one guys, a guy asked me to replace bul in his pir light out back yard, i changed bulb and didnt work, so i went got him new fitting (cheap one ÂŁ8) and couldnt find a switch to turn off, so assumed it didnt have one and was just a live feed, so turned off everything and changed and walllllaa new light working with pir plus day night sensor, so all good, but now it is just staying on constant..... still cant find a switch , what would make this stay on constant???? if ya knows...

Hi Guys, sorry haven't got back sooner. This is a replacement light switch type pir sensor only from asda and is for the indoor porch. It has 3 termials a live in a lie out and a neutral. I can get it to come on but it stays on all the time. it is being wired with a wire direct from the main fuse box, there were no instructions with this product and it is so confusing as it seems as it should be straight forward. If you can help it would be great and thanx for your comments up to now.

Photos of the front and back faces of the sensor would help. Is there an override switch on it On-Auto-Off ? Is there any adjustment of time or detection sensitivity? Anything in the area which might be re-triggering it?

Looks like Asda do not sell this any more but they seem to sell Timeguard so this is an instruction manual for a PIR light switch type sensor, although it does not have a neutral connection. If you can provide a part number or model number this will help.

If you have the same model then these instructions may help. If it is a different model then do not follow these instructions.
Likely problems with light staying on is that the switch goes into manual on operation when switched on and off quickly, try turning off the power, wait 30 seconds and then turn on again, do not approach the sensor for a few minutes and then try the operation.
Otherwise the sensor may be set by a switch to manual on instead of auto.

How confident are you that the sensitivity/sunlight/delay on controls are set right? They can be a right old pain sometimes - I hate them!!

I've changed about half a dozen in the last few months where they had failed.

When I say failed, they behave strangely, such as not turning off, turning on and off too quickly, not turning on at all, even though I have played around with the sensitivity and lighting adjustments.

The reasons I believe is the electronics get fried through changes in temperature, voltage surges, atmospheric ferries et al.

You can't even blame them on their cheapness since they are all cheap and made in you know where.

Its now not worth the time to play Sherlock with them. So if they fail, it is either the lamp or the electronics and cheaper just to replace.
