Hi need some help please, bought a mini pir for led strip lights.

Now I'm not sure it's compatible. The lights are low 12v the pir is a 240v input. Will it work anyway or

Could I connect the output of the pir to the 240v mains connection before the converter

Any help, thanks

hang on. are you saying that the LEDs have a 240V/12V converter? if so, the youll be OK, unless the characteristics of the converter upset the PIR. PIRs don't like inductive loads.

Yes PIR will be fine, just put it on the mains supply side of the transformer for the strip. It is also a good way to prolong the life of the transformer as it will mean the transformer is not energised permanently only when the PIR activates the switch.

PIR mains side is good as all of the above say, just be careful of the make of the LED driver for some reason certain makes do not like having 240v turning them off then on a second later continusously, if you experience problems once you have installed with drivers going this could be the reason why.
