Hi all. I am getting hassled from my boss about how long it takes to do a pir on a db. We think he is going to try to get us to do this on price work. We feel that 8 to 10 circuits a shift would be about right but If This is way out I can feel retributions already. The install is commercial office type environment on shutdown / out of hours any advice from the testing people would be appreciated thanks

how many people have done the 2391 i done it passed 1st time and think that i should be paied for it im self employed and i have been pressured befor but have said that i will only sign the work of if im happy that the electrics wont kill someone domestic ok easy stuff but i do industrial most of the time one of them was 32 dbs with 24 circuits on each.
i have had some pir s which realy do my head in and make me think hard so you realy cant price them i work per hour and am trusted to do a good job
depending on the age of the instalation it will cost more or less.
sorry but it realy **** me off the amount of qualification and skill i have gained over the years and you get someone telling u what to do who sits on a computer never done a propper days work get sick pay holiday pay pension etc and they think they can get you to sign work you aint happy with.
the worst is people doing there own electrics and asking me to test and sign for it no way but i will do a pir for them but all they then do is phone a back street cock to sign there name to say its safe.
i like to sleep at night.
but they are lucky they can to ,but i think they are so stupid they dont have a clue and wouldnt give a **** if the electrics killed someone i mean when dose that happen, what ----ers.
well thanks gents that realy let off some steam

Thanks guys Im new to forums and I like the can of worms that this thread is opening. The basics of this is the factory had a small fire and a lucky escape!. Weve been changing two main boards at a time and then upgrading to 17th edition like a new install nothing fails all sorted. We have been having isues not connecting bad wiring or dangerous stuff ( rcd skts wired with 1mm 3 core flex doubled into 100 amp tp breaker) honest this was connected up by there gafer maintenance spark who wondered what was wrong with this as it was less than 2 m and restricted by a 13 amp fuse on the plug. We reminded him of the fire and asked where he served his time and he walked away. Realy what I am asking is can you pir aprox 1 hour for a ring and 30min for a radial without geting your bum kicked.

how many socket in the ring the all need to be checked by the sounds of it i would because a fire can start from lose phase conductors or spur on a spur on a spur i would not put anything past that place with what u have told us.
you name will be in the fireing line if somthing goes wrong again and you signed the cert.
well i would not sign if im not happy and because there has been a fire i would do a 100% pir which takes as long as it takes

You would have thought they'd have a switch to flick on and off to engage an override. Not on each PIR but an actual light switch
