Is anyone experiencing planning issues in a local authority area with regards to Solar PV installations? We are currentkly experiencing a difficulties in Epsom and Ewell and wonder if any other local authorities are similar. It seems that local authorities interperete the Governments planning rules differently

What is it specifically that is not clear? Assuming England, then permitted development includes walls as well as roofs. 200mm rule still applies. Main difference is that in a conservation area you cannot without planning permission put solar panels on walls facing a road.
Relevant SIs if you want to browse are:
2008/675
2008/2362
2011/2056

I've seen plenty of panels on angular brackets - wall mounted in the same plane as the roof. This obvoiusly requires planning permission?

To be within permitted development rule to wall mount we would be mounting the panels on the wall face no more than 200mm off? It is clear, but makes little sense.
