Hi Folks,

Has anyone any info on PLC training courses or where they can be taken?

I have began dabbling with these and would like some training possibly leading to a recognised qualification if possible

I have came across online courses/distance learning which means it would be possible to progress at my own pace but I wonder if the lack of input from a proper tutor would be a problem

Any ideas?

Thanks in advance

PS - Just noticed its my first post so Hi everyone

the evening course is run by Southern Regional College and is delivered at their Newry campus, sometimes Portadown also but not this year, the next one wont start 'til September. i have 2 pals on this currently running course and they're telling me good things however i also know the lecturer as he taught me plcs on a different course and he is an excellent instructor.
the course uses Mitubishi hardware and software but once you have good grip of commands and addressing etc you should be fine picking up the differences between manufacturers.

Cheers pmac10,

Newry is ~2hrs from me so I will investigate some more to see if I can find something more local

I intend to buy another PLC kit (Siemens most likely as I have a cousin who already has some) and continue my (steep) learning curve

If they`ll have me I headed to Australia and my long term aim is to be competant with these devices, obviously a qualification wouldnt hurt but I`ve been lead to believe that only a qualification actually gained in Australia would carry any weight
