Please advise literature

Hi all, I'm hoping to start an electrical course at college January, I was wondering if there's anything I can learn myself at home before hand such as books to buy and read etc

for my courses i bought electrical installation books by trevor lindsay and was encouraged to buy them by my tutors but your tutours will suggest books to buy when you start so id hold off untill then.

You could buy the on-site guide for a start or guidance note 3 atleast these books will be usefull after you finish your course (unless they change) you could buy the ammended bs7671 but it would be a lot to take in at the start but saying that seeing as its just come out its propbably worth getting because it wont change for a while. The trevor linsley level 3 electrical installation book is a good one though mate all thew best

Before you spend money, talk to the college and ask for their suggested reading list. And in general, get stuck into some maths homework if it's not your strong point.

I've recently completed a level 2 OCR maths course, is electrical work mathematically demanding then?

It's around £20 mines in perfect condition

The course itself can be mathematically demanding but, like anything else revision and a basic understanding of principles should see you alright

i would read as much of this forum and the iet one as you can, read every post as often they go off topic so you don't know what you will find until youn read them, and its all free.
