got a tns at 1 ohms dno will give us a pme for £180 or they say shove a rod in the ground ummm im thinking is there much price in it but the pme is guaranteed the ze on the rod could be varaible with the dryness of the soil what are your thoughts guys.

i'd push DNO to improve the TN-S for free. it's their responsibility to maintain it at <0.8.

yes that was my thoughts there is a clamp (the type we use for equipotential bonding) on the sheathing not doing alot as its in the wrong place on the incoming cable.

I know it would be froned upon, but i would use a roll spring, and improve that existing earth. Before doing thatbthough, have you tried taking a Ze, with the earth probe on the exposed metal sheath of the supply cable?

Ask them if the bonding is only 6mm and they change the earthing to PME are they going to stand the cost of upgrading the bonding to 10mm to comply with regs. Charging to sort out their problems, genius.

we have 10mm bonds in place as we have rewired the property

i just had to have a pme upgrade for a customer, £136 from western power "south west"
ze was .20 at the sheath but wire broke off many years ago,
bet the guy that came could have slapped a 3m clamp and braid on the sheath, but no they have to pme upgrade.

asked this question before, anyone know where i can buy 3m constant pressure springs and 16 mm earth braid kits from please????

They try it on every time these DNO's!! They have a DUTY to maintain any earth connection they have previously provided... Don't take any crap, insist they stand-up to their responsibilities...

right, then dont be fobbed off sedg......as eng has quite rightly pointed out already....if the install was already using the distributers facility as a means of earthing when the fault/high impedence was discovered and reported then they have a duty to maintain it....end of......dont let em slip out of this like a fillet of wet fish....insist they sort it.....or threaten em with a watchdog...or whatever governs em....
