So cameron has defended his idea about making nurses start out as Health Care Assistants before they move into nursing.

I hope he also ensures that all MP's start out as Sewer Workers before they start talking ****.

I think expecting MP to be sewer workers is terrible!!!!

How would they cope with the complexity of the job? Plus actually having to work for a living!!

Best thing is all MPS should have to start as human traffic cones on the M25 and then progress through MAcDonalds to eventually be demoted to become an MP.

Not that I hold MPs in low regards! I have absolutely no regards gf or the lying w...kers.

To be honest, that statement of Camerons does not make any sense. That’s what student nurses already do in their 1[SUP]st[/SUP] year of training. They don’t move onto the more technical side of things until the second year. Why would he want them to re-invent the wheel only to come up with the same wheel. Crackpot politics again!

Why can't this shower realise that if something isn't broken it does not need to be fixed.
It's not perfect though is it?
According to the Telegraph, last year 43 patients starved to death while receiving treatment in hospitals, with 287 recorded by doctors as dying in a state of malnutrition.
111 patients died of thirst with 558 recorded by doctors as dying in state of severe dehydration.
Presumably the idea behind this proposal is to make nurses care a bit more about their patients - to check that they have enough to eat and drink instead of just dumping a tray in front of someone who is too weak to feed them self and taking it away untouched.
It would be nice to be able to say that nurses do the best job they can in the situation they are put in, and I'm sure many do, but there are also a lot who don't see it as their job to listen and show compassion to patients - it can't be nice to find out the relative who has just died in hospital might still be alive if the nurses had just given them a glass of water.

Hospitals in my opinion should be run by doctors/matrons/nurses not managers on god knows how much a year ( think of the equipment they could buy or nurses they could employ OR British owned cleaning and catering companies) My local hospital was built by imported labour, the cleaning and catering is run by the french ( we were on the list for mrsa ). When i was in hospital last year a guy came in for a knee operation, caught mrsa and went home with one leg, he sued and was paid, ÂŁloads of money, Instead of Cameron slating off the nurses he should give them a decent working wage, that would attract the pro's, then he would see nursing as it should be. not as it is. I went in for appendicts, i discharged myself as soon as i could walk ( 3 days) The food was rank and the cleaning was slap dash) the docs and nurses were brilliant.

There was a time when you had to work as an apprentice or 'mate' for a couple of years before you could work as an electrician...
I could be wrong ( doubtful as this may seem) but didnt there used to be such a thing as junior nurses ie 3 years slopping out etc until they took exams to become a' nurse' , what changed ? and when.

Well they are trying to privatise the NHS from back door regulations apparently. The NHS does have its faults now but I think we are very lucky that we don't have the same health system of the states which all depends on how much money you have to the level of care you receive

I don't know but it sounds reasonable. If there was, surely 'Health care assistant' is just a fancy new name for 'junior nurse'?
