Hi Guys,
got to quote for new power supply sockets etc. in a new wooden outbuilding at a garden centre,is this notifiable.

Cheers, John.

Telectrix...can I ask a silly question please?

If a domestic dwelling was attached to the garden centre would the work be notifiable then?

I spose it depends wether they are fed from the same supplies or not?

Just wondering likes.

Thanks.

If any part of the building is residential, whether is it is occupied or not, and it shares the same supply as the rest of the building then Part P applies to the whole installation.

A good example of this would be a Pub or a Guest House, with living quarters for staff etc.

If you want detailed information, and full clarity then download Approved Document P, and have a read through it. It will clear up most of your concerns and queries.

And its free:cool:

By the way, your question is not silly.

Cheers..........Howard

Telectrix and Howard, thanks for both the replies, what a helpful bunch you are.

Regards.

PS

Just to put you in the picture, all electrical work in commercial premises of any kind, and certain types of houses like Houses of Multiple occupancy (HMO's) fall within the Electricity at Work Regulations 1989, and The Health and Safety at Work Act 1974. this is why Part P doesn't apply to anything other than domestic dwellings and their associated outbuildings and grounds.

So if you worked on a guest house with living quarters for the staff which is all on one supply, then the whole lot would apply.

Happy to help..........Howard
