Instead of a direct run straight to the C/U can I go into a socket on a ring main inside the house, run cable from that outside and into the shed into a double socket then to a 3A spur for a light? I'd like to run in conduit with 4mm singles. So from inside house on 32a ring to a 13A double socket and onto a 3A fused spur

Thanks guys, shed only 5mtrs from house and socket so I'll use 4mm swa then that'll take care of volt drop. Just out of interest, why would you not want to use conduit?

Immediate answer to the conduit is that if there is any mechanical damage to the swa then it will trip rcd. Whereas it won't with the conduit. But I'm sure I could think of other reasons lol.

Remember it needs to be on an rcd

Why??? The installation within the shed or the sub main feeding the shed.

The 3A fuse is there to protect the current lighting. For additional power you connect from the non protected 3A fuse side.
