power to lights then switch

Hello all

I have 2 wire to the first light, 3 wire between lights and 2 wire from 3rd light to switch.
It seems that I need to run 3 wire to get the neutral to the switch from the 3rd light

How do I treat the 3 wires at the switch?

Why do you need a neutral at the switch. Most switches just have a permanent hot supply wire and a switched hot wire back to the load ie the lights.

I think you have what Marvo described, with the hot wire being connected at a joint at each light but not powering the light.

After due diligence I discovered that running a neutral to the switch has nothing
to do with the operating of the lights.
The electrical code here requires a three wire to the switch with the neutral capped.
The neutral will then be available for future use with a Smart Switch.
