Hi all,

My sister has bought an oven and has asked me to connect it when it gets delivered. She has a 6mm cable protected by a 32A mcb so I told her not to get anything higher than 7.2kW.
I've checked out the oven online and it only gives energy consumption of 0.79kWh.
From that information is there anyway of working out how many amps the oven will draw at maximum usage?
I don't think ohms law is the answer, please shed some light.

Thanks

Ohmigod more like.
Either this is a wind up or someone has "forgotten" something very basic
Wattage/voltage = ?
You then do something else with the result

a 6.0mm cable on a 32A MCB will handle any cooker up to 15kW.

You say you, have found the technical spec online, why not post a link to it so we can get as much info as possible.

Scary stuff just found on your company website

Services we offer range from the complete design, installation and certification of Electrical systems to emergency callouts for a faulty socket.

I've posted the link and I've never come across diversity on cookers
when installing a cooker I check the maximum wattage and calculate cable and protective device from there

Diversity Diversity, Get your on site guide out page 110 or alternatively don't give up the day job, whatever that may be!

Do you have copies of BS7671 and the OSG. Which will show you how to work out the info you require.

Harsh! What I find harsh re people dabbling with things they are not competent to do.
If you are an electrician then do your calculations, you have got your mcb size you have got your cable size,so work it out.
If your not an electrician then don't do electrical work.
Nothing harsh about any of that!.

It's would have been better if it was really as at least he could stick his head in it and put and end to the misery.[/QUOTE]

Lol. Nice one centurion.

Bloody hell guys this is supposed to be a friendly site, I should report you all for pointless and offensive posts hahaha

Thanks, that's all I needed, 32A, good lord!

All you had to do was look at the specs on the beko website. Bit of common sense.
