Price On Scrap Cable

Whats everyones going rate around the country on the price of clean copper at the minute?
Now the warmer and lighter evenings are upon us im able to spend a bit of time on stripping cable ive acquired over the winter months, piling through a boat laod of 25mm armoured at the minute!!
Hopefully go towards some beer tokens for the summer jollys.
Given a price of £4000 a ton here in the Leicester area.

Just weigehd in 5.6kg of clean copper, £28, so £5 a kilo, or £5000 a tonne, that's in Gloucestershire.

When you plan to take it in always phone first for a price , the local yards around here in Linc's varied from £ 4250 - £5600 a ton for bright at the beginning of DEC 2010 when i took the last load in ! Always let them know that you phoned for a price earlier as well , i left saying it a little late one time as he was dishing the money out and he then changed it by over £ 360 to the correct rate blaming the office girl . I suppose once it is in his pile and you have not set the rate first you can not really argue with him ! Just waiting to weigh the next lot in when i have time so will let you know what it is in Linc's .

Managed to get £5100 todays price, all in £360. Do nicely fo me to get spent for a weeks jollys to Sharm El Sheikh!

takes ages to do though so iwonder if its worth on anything smaller than 16/25 mm

I burnt all the small stuff the place gave £4000, but not all places will take it.

Note that this is for bulk buyers/sellers, so weighing in 50kg will not get near to these prices. 'Dry Bright wire' is stripped cable, currently £4.9k/tonne. Unstripped cable is £1.4k.
Copper piping, stripped from houses is 'Braziery Copper', currently at £3.9k.

Braziery copper is the soldered joints, if you cut these out and weight them in it is braziery and the pipe becomes clean copper = better prices!
