Project Energy/Solar seem to be all over the place selling them at the minute. I've bought one lot of k2 kit from them on 26th March and had 3 failed deliveries so far, if there installs are anything like their distribution I wouldn't touch them with a barge pole. They've cost me a fortune moving jobs round and having roofers hanging around waiting for kit.

Passed 2 installs today, first ones I've seen since last year - times are tough!

So the consensus current right price of 4KW is 6.1K would give 14% ROI and 7 year payback, tracked at RPI!!! That level of return is unreal in this current economic market.

Why isn't it flying of the shelves ......

We've got an in roof mounted system just confirmed for a couple of weeks time, using renusol, which looks really good, but then we used the design software and realised that instead of 1 back panel per panel, they want to add an extra plate top and side because they want 20cm overlap despite the backing panels only being 10cm bigger than the solar panels. I assume this was a design cock up on their part, but that alone is adding around £150 to the job - we'll order the extra, but only use them if we really need to I think.

I have to wonder though if there isn't a more cost effective method of laying some form of plastic sheeting behind the panels to water proof it, then flashing around it, as it seems a hell of a lot of money for not a lot of actual product.

Not sure if this will help you, but Renusol do the waterproof backing sheets in 10m rolls, rather than the smaller individual plates. This means less overlapping material and therefore less cost. It can also work out much cheaper to change the orientation of the modules if possible to try and fit the backing sheet dimensions.

Sounds like you already have your order, but we have this in stock, so if you would like a price please get in touch. Thanks

or they're just using green deal as a marketing scam, then offering them alternative finance that includes the FIT payments in it's repayment... or they're scamming the green deal system in some way / making enough off other technologies to cross subsidise the PV etc.

That's my thoughts too. How does joe public really know what the green deal is..... They hear all about it so they get the green deal solar Pv or a boiler on finance that offsets the money saved. Tick ! The golden rule is the 7% interest applied once you've figured out what you've done it's a golden moment you never forget. Perhaps not as golden as the rent a roof customers.

This will not happen because every measure needs a lot of paperwork before and after installation including pics for proof, we are heavily involved now and we can see how it will pan out.
