Hi there I have been asked to put a quote in for the labour on running Armoured SWA cable to 6 flats and landlords supply (7 all in all).

There will be about 160 meters of 25mm SWA needed (Roughly).

Ryefield three phase board installed.

Glanded and connected to 6 consumer units, walls will need to be chased out along a hallway with doors made for access to the cable (chasing, clipping, screwing my job, boxing and doors will be chippies)

There is also a landlords consumer unit to provide and 100amp isolation switches after the meters to be installed as well.

and a 4 inch hole needs to be made for the EDF supply (about 1 meters worth)

I was thinking it would take about 5 days to complete, and would be happy with ÂŁ400 a day?

They are supplying materials.

Would that be a fair price or am I ripping of the customer - or myself ?

Cheers
GREG

ÂŁ400 a day seems a bit excessive I'm sure you'd be more than happy with that, I know some people it would take 2 weeks to earn that kind of money.

A tradesman ie chippy etc would probably charge ÂŁ170 a day

For a Sparky I'd probably look at ÂŁ200 - ÂŁ 250 and no more unless the poor buggers are willing to pay them sort of prices then hey they didn't see you coming

What has labourers jobs got to do with my prices

Bosses of banks get 30,000 a month!

A tradesman ie chippy etc would probably charge ÂŁ170 a day
A architect will probably charge 100 an hour

So would I ÂŁ250 a day I would be happy with aswell. I should of said in my original post that I also will have two lads with me doing the work. on my own it would take about 2 weeks to complete this there is so much chasing to do!

Thanks for the reply, has any other sparkies got an opinion on a good price, is ÂŁ250 a goods days money. I just had the impression when dealing with EDF and Precise work like that you might put on extras.

Sounds like you might be priceing yourself into a rest period. Probably 90% of the job is bare knuckle work to sub out to labourers at ÂŁ10-ÂŁ12 an hour, helpers job at similar rate to screw and clip cables and your job to terminate at ÂŁ25-ÂŁ30 an hour or maybe in your neck of the woods there is loads of work and no sparks so people have to pay over the odds to get work done. Landlords are not renowned for paying over the odds.
