Hi,

What's everyone's preferred way of pricing? I've never done per point but seen that quote a lot of people do it that way. Just doing an extension at the minute with the following,

14 spots
1 island pendant
4 outside lights
4 gang modular switch
1 new 6mm hob circuit
1 new 2.5mm radial circuit (1 point)
10 sockets
new water bond 5 metres (stop tap has been moved)

All white accessories, what would people do per point on this?

Hi I prefer pricing my labour and materials separately its easier and faster but some kitchen companies etc like every point priced individually, per socket ,per isolator etc .just means you have to factor in everything that goes into a single socket for example ,cable ,labour,back box,socket,testing.alot more complicated and generally works out more expensive to customer.i don't mind spending an extra bit of labour I havnt priced for rather than sit at home and figure out multiple prices for what is similar points .just as a side note I hate grid switches ,trying to squeeze 2.5 into crappy mk grid switches and making sure cables are secure as your twisting modules is a nightmare. Done alot of eicrs and if there's ever a broken ring it's the first place I look .I generally only ever have 3 mods on a grid .

Thanks for the info. Out of interest what would you be pricing on this? (roughly as obviously you haven't looked at the job) 6mm hob circuit is about 8 metres from the db, access under the house.

labour price and then costing for materials works out best.

Not including rcd,mcb,rcbo or spd as I don't know what's in place. 15 metres of 6mm allowing for routing and switchwire to hob .30 pound for cable,15 pound for isolator,10 pound for cooker outlet,a few quid for back boxes ,labour including connecting hob and at consumer and testing 2 hours labour at 30 or 35
So 55 for material
And 60 or 70 for labour
I think that's a fair price but I'm in North of Scotland so cheaper up here

Thanks again for the reply. I actually meant for the whole lot, just gave you the hob circuit length so you could factor it in.

For the hob circuit alone though that seems very cheap, £70 for labour to run a new circuit db to point, connect inside db, install back box, isolator and connect the hob then test and issue cert/notify. Surely you'd be charging more for that

Around our way, (Midlands) that would be between 3-4k for that,
I have been doing an alteration to a large kitchen including much the same as your quote and two new oven feeds, a quooker tap supply and a new ring final circuit. All lighting to be controlled by quinetic switches.
All white plastic accessories.
Double pole RCBO's for the new circuits.
The first fix has been 2.3k.
We are now awaiting the plastering to be completed then painted and the kitchen fitted before returning for second fix.
All in, the end job will come in around 4k for the electrical Installation.

Maybe just a rough estimate .without seeing the job and what would be required at dB price may increase .if it was part of the project I don't think I would be much more than that .I'd like to think on a first fix/second fix kitchen when other circuits are being installed at same time it would be a reasonable price .I also think 2 hours would be sufficient for installation and test cert but maybe that's why the soles are hanging off my boots
