Put it into hand ,push start and every contactor rattles in and out ? Any ideas what it could be

Put what into hand and what is making the rattling noise ...everything wont be rattling...If you require our help try give us relevant info please.

What testing have you done?
What results?
If contactor is the rattling object have you confirmed coil voltage present as per coil rating, is the load still working but just noisy controls?
What exactly is this snippet of a picture you have sent it means nothing without explanation.

The list is big but you have given us zilch to go on ... BTW my gran is ill tell me whats wrong with her please!(see what i mean)

Lastly what experience have you in control systems and industrial machinery... I would keep well away without training and at least 5yrs supervised working in this area your actions can be costly to safety and your customer if you are not competent to be working on this equipment.

I wouldn't normally be stressing such warnings so early in the thread but the manor of your question and total lack of required info suggests your meddling in systems you have no knowledge of and trying to learn from a forum is not a route to becoming competent.

Sounds like the flux capacitor has failed. Replace it, stick in in your van and accelerate to 88MPH.

The contactors are losing power on energisation, possibly the incoming supply may be on a NC contact of a contactor, but there is no telling the cause without more information.

110v ac controll cct
For a foul pump
Every contactor on the controll fuse rattles in and out and the lamp on the panel dims ,was only getting 60v across the lamp while holding in the start button so that's why all the contactors are buzzing due to the voltage dropping, there's a dodgy coil or contact somewhere I changed the start delay timer and I've checked c1 c2 c3 contactors for the star delta controll there all fine, going back on Friday to have another look don't have any drawings
Cheers anyway and I changed the flux capacitor as it was running low on magic

If you only have 60V on your 110V control circuit do you not think that maybe your 110V supply is u/s?

I had ran 110v from the panel next to it to rule out the tranny
Aye stab in the dark
Doing a bit of cable tracing and sdt was the first in line after the start button
It's a strange one that's why I've posted about it just incase it's happened to anyone else

I know very little about this kind of work, but I do no that taking a stab in the dark is not the action of a professional! This is a technical trade where we investigate, test and diagnose faults using knowledge experience and logic.

Personally if faced with this fault and based on the info supplied I would probably:
Test the transformer output under load to establish whether it is at fault or not.
Test the control voltage at each point following a logical order to establish where and when the drop to 60V occurs.

Depends on where and how he is testing ... he needs to follow his start stop circuit and check all contacts through buttons and aux' contact points - hes getting 60v but this could be feeding back through 110v coils to give him false readings.... unless he can read and follow the the plans and understand the different control circuit levels in any standard panel he will be in for the long haul randomly guessing and changing parts that were ok. I sub to 3 companies and all were trying to repair machines and controls while not been competent when they were passed my name and all of them had wasted money changing parts that were ok..... 2 of them i resolved in 5mins after they been trying to sort it for many days.

The OP will know his level and if he's in deeper than his experience but his fault sounds pretty common to me as ive come across many similar ones and should be easy to trace especially as he has the Godsend of the wiring diagrams ---a rarity in these days.


Im not having a dig at fast&rough but it seems he's trying to take a shortcut into this field of electrics - unfortunately he will end up digging a hole he eventually can't get out of - you have to learn this the long way around and dare I say read up on your BS 60204-1 in case you make some alterations or additions as it your shoulders the safety of the system lies on once you make changes.

Na no drawings and the way I see it is doesn't matter the size of the panel or how much gear is in it, just gotta start from the beginning and follow it through to the end and the sdt is allways a good place to start when there is no drawings
And it's down to 60v at the tranny When the start button is pushed

Aye darkwood I'm no altering anything I don't do anything to get my balls chewed and I've been in this field since my apprenticeship 10 years ago I was puzzled and thought I would post it for some fresh ideas
