Hi All,

I'm just coming to the end of my 2330 course. I've just finished my exams and I reckon I've (hopefully) got distinctions across the board.
I just have a bit of a query regarding 2391 inspection & testing. How much more depth does the 2391 qualification go into beyond what is covered in 2330?

I'm not working in the trade as yet so I'm not sure if trying to go for the 2391 is a step to far too soon - what are your thoughts chaps ?

PS - if anyone is looking to employ a hard-working spark in the West Yorkshire area then please give me a shout.

Cheers
Steve

You should find it easier than us older ones. (only speaking for myself)

The lads on our course who were just fresh from the 2330 were more 'switched on' Go for it!
Big difference, you need to be doing it daily to stand any chance. Do the 2392 Fundamental first as recommend by C&G it will give you a better chance.

hi
like the original poster im at college and am now planning to do 2391 before its finishes at the end of the year.
Basically iv been a electricans mate for a few years now, i finished 2330 L2 in july with all distinctions, then quickly did the 2382 over the six weeks holiday(83%), iv just passed PAT (100%) and passed 2392 theory today(80%) doing practical next week.
I started 2330 L3 in september, and im signed up to take the 2391 test in december.

Garbha what is this examiners report book? Is all the information to pass the 2391 in the GN3?
Where can i find out more info on the practical tests as i have no live test experience?

Will it be to late to do the 2391-20 design exam after the 2391-10 inspection and test as it takes two months to get the results back which means i wouldnt know if iv passed until febuary. If i passed 2391-10 do u think they would give me time to continue onto 2391-20 even after december 2011?

This qualification will close at the end of the year and is replaced being replaced with something else. Not clear yet but looks like there is to be a different number but an additional exam along side it for domestic??????

The qualification is intended for experienced personnel working in the electrical industry. Although City & Guilds does not state formal candidate entry requirements, the qualification is not intended for non-qualified electricians and/or those who do not have experience in inspecting, testing and
certifying electrical installations.

In the words of C&G
Candidates without this experience should seriously consider undertaking the City & Guilds Level 2 Certificate in fundamental inspection, testing and initial verification (2392-10) as well as obtaining industry experience. It is also strongly recommended that candidates have achieved either the City & Guilds Certificate in the requirements for electrical installations (BS 7671 January 2008) (2382) or similar qualifications where candidates have demonstrated knowledge and understating of the 17th edition.

It may only have an average pass mark of 40% but if a student puts in the effort then you should be ok. Check out the exam success books series in here the exam is explained, what the examiner is looking for and there is two typical exam papers with model answer

Get in now

Good luck

It’s sad that you had to say no more money to them for them to pull their fingers out.
