Proper job

Job I've started today, its a big office just off parliament square London that's now being split in to two, new DB, sub meter, floor sockets and lighting being split to the new corresponding sides etc.

The landlord had a sparks in to change all the 600x600 fittings for led panels and add some extras in before the decision to split the office space in two. It's all been wired in flex slung across the metal grid ceiling including metal tiles, nearly every joint on every fitting has been twisted and taped up, connector strip everywhere, many of the cpc's haven't been connected and if they have it's because they've been used as a switch live, Covers left off accessories in the mains cupboard, the list goes on lol.

No doubt this will sound silly. But i've lived a sheltered life. What is that on the top three breakers on the right hand side in the last photo.

Its a tap-off that feeds another DB directly above.

Pretty poor - Shame of it is I have seen installs like this all over the country in the shop fitting game. It's not right and how it gets "passed" is a mystery...but there are lots in the commercial sector just like this....and worse lol.

Yeah it is lol, it's getting ripped out tomorrow.

Don't blame you, I wouldn't touch it either. I'll never understand why people do the job like this when it actually costs no more and takes no longer to do it properly.

Because they've never been shown how to do it properly in the first place would be my guess.

All ripped out and started installing the conduit today. Had to get a couple of more hands in as got to be out of the floor by Friday and this was sort of sprung on me. The thing is as well the landlord doesn't mind paying good money for a good job, these sort of clients are the best IMO and the sort you want to keep hold of. He's over the moon with what we are doing/done and wants us now to install new led grid lights and containment throughout the rest of the floors (6 floors in total) Plus the other associated works with the building layout changes, as over the next few months each floor is getting split in two .

Good to see a customer appreciating some one doing a good job , even if the work is going to be out of sight ! Not the "can't see it can't see a problem attitude "
