Proper MK Quality!!!!!!!

Whilst up in the loft getting the Xmas decorations down, I found this.....

Sad to say, than again maybe not, 'as a lad' I used to pore over the latest MK catalogues and also BILL. MK used to have robustness in spades, probably because in the days before 'just good enough' the designer included margins so that for example the 13A plug and socket could indeed pass 13A without overly warming and deteriorating with time. I still have brand loyalty though and that's what our home has. I like the design of the switch and their certain click. Where I think MK got it wrong is they did not produce a cheaper MK plug for the 1W to 1.5kW range - one always had to buy the more expensive top end one.

Yea ,I knew all the Crabtree numbers,2306 for a 2g skt,2304 for a single,2170 for a 1 way switch,2172 2g switch oh the days,I need to get out more.

MK should never have got involved with distribution equipment it was bad then and still is.

At least a lot of that older stuff had decent termination screws in the back, too many of the modern ones need a damn microscope to see the screw and then its pot luck with MK whether its jammed or useless. have had to take so much Mk stuff back recently.

Used to install MK consumer units - till about 9 years ago.
Found the quality going down hill and it has got worse.

MK are a shadow of their former self and living on their brand name (notice I didn't say reputation as it was shot a long time ago)

Now they have been taken over by Honeywell the final nails are in the coffin (like the removal of MCB retrofit kits for example)

What was the point of the minilogic range?

I often come across them - normally fitted by DIYers judging by the quality of the install

The mini logic can be usefull if you need a small socket in an obscure place such as a TV at high level and so on.

The sockets are also a very similar size to the old MK surface sockets. Used them more than once where a standard would overhang. Very expensive though.
