Hi, I am relatively new to testing and was just doing some research into it all as some time in the future may take my testing and inspecting exam, I just wanted to confirm this test exactly as i want to make sure I'm understanding it correctly, I know nowadays this part of the test is quite rare and never usually required due to individual transformers to downlighters and leds etc. Am I right in thinking this test is for eg if you have a transformer feeding a large number of low voltage lights (therefor a lot of cable) ??

I'm reading the instructions as you have to disconnect the load from the transformer and test between line conductors of the load with an insulation resistance test of 250v with the minimum acceptable resistance as 0.5M then do the same test between line to earth.

Is this correct ?

Thank you.

Forgot to add - If the selv conductors are separated by insulation then test voltage is 500v and 1M minimum acceptable resistance.
