I think you'll find the regs book would disagree there,
an mcb isn't acceptable as an isolator switch
, it's an over current protection device. A fan along with most appliances must have means if isolation for emergency/ maintenance needs.

i'm going to put that down to the time - 1am. i think it's past your bed time.

Heard a weird radio program discussing men who shave in the bath !!!! for that extra smooth feel. Not my idea of fun but with a name like Shagbite thought you may be interested in this activity. Sorry cant provide any details as not my thing. May need to talk to a plumber about this.

I'd get your money back on your 5 day sparky course or go back to poland if you've been taught to use mcb's as an isolator for anything. It's not acceptable for a customer to use it to isolate. That's why they invented the isolator switch for

Get your customer to spend a little more on a silent one :D[/QUOTE]

Moving air always makes noise.
From my experience over the years customers have ask me to come back and turn fans down or stop the run on completely. Thus defeating the object anyway !

Customers can be fussy!

So I always try to locate the isolator in a place of easy use, and have a decent run on time so it actually does some use WHEN needed.

That's my take on it anyway

Who wants to lay in the bath listening to a fan? Also when you have a pee in the night then get back in bed you have ???mins of fan running...

I always switch the fan seperate to the lights.
Gives you major brownie points with customers

what sort of bloke lays in the bath? i'm straight in, straight out. i bet your letter to santa's full of bubble bath and candles!

Yep it's the old Skool pirate bubbles please,

Can't do candles as my fans moving so much air it puts them out

( if only I'd wired my own house!)

See Table 53.4 Bs7671(2008(2011)). A circuit breaker can clearly be used as an isolater.

The words 'pot' and 'kettle' spring to mind. Do your homework fella before you come on here running your mouth. Have you ever read a regs book?

Sheesh! I better go round and take out all the MCB's I've installed over the years as they must not be suitable for a customer to use! God knows why I've spent so long putting these dangerous items in customers houses!?

Nowt wrong with that. Like I said, I'm just being difficult :D

As long as we all know the difference between best practice and requirement then I'm a happy chappy!
