Hey guys.

Iv been asked to price a job, to supply a shed, with a couple of sockets and a light.

Iv got to trench some of the lawn and clip and rest, in all a 30m run.

The CU has an RCD main switch, and in the shed im thinking a 2way CU with MCBs for light and power, and put RCD sockets on.
Something iv never come accross, but will the RCD sockets trip the main RCD..?

Also, might be a silly question, im pricing to put nornal fittings in the shed, not IP rated stuff, as its a good new solid shed, would everyone else use normal plastic stuff??

cheers

Iv spoken to them today, and they have had a quote that i need to beat.

I think iv decided how im going to do it, as they have now told me i can have a bit more room in the mains cupboard :)

Im gonna...
Split the tails out into henley blocks and into a 2 way CU with rcd, then out with SWA down to the shed into a moulded box, out to sockets, and spur down to the lights.

Should be able to get it cheaper than the other guys and get the job if i do it this way :)

Only problem with that is the sockets only overcurrent protection is the main cutout fuse:eek: you need a cu in the shed, i would put a switchfuse in the meter cupboard, run in swa all the way and into an insulated cu with rcd, 16a for sockets 6a for lights, job done and would'nt be too costly, you can't skimp on safety

if you read his plan again more carefully this time you will see he does say he is fitting a 2 way cu. obviously he will fuse it correctly there

An rcd is a 2 way unit, that is what i thought he meant just a 2 way unit to house that, different people have different ways of saying things, i see now what he is doing as it was not obvious
