Putting power back into the grid

Can someone explain how this is done, how can the power generated by the pv array be pushed back into the grid

The voltage that the PV generator produces is a slightly higher than the grid voltage.

So how is it pushed back into the grid, does it use a neutral return path

As a higher voltage, it is effectively a higher 'pressure'.
