I've been told by someone that from 2015 all new build properties will have to have a minimum of 600W solar PV installed. I can't seem to find any info on this at all. Is this just industry hearsay, another old wives tale or is it true?

As far as I know, not true. This has likely come out of the Zero Carbon Homes debacle. The standards for Zero Carbon Homes have now been watered down to such an extent as to make the policy a joke.

One way of making a major contribution to meeting the standards that were once in place was through the use of Renewables. Big builders will always do the absolute minimum, hence the reason for seeing 1kWp arrays on new builds where 4kW or more would fit.

There is some background to the current position in this blog by Stuart Elmes.

Fortunately, There are different building codes in Scotland that are already in place, and have not experienced the concerted attack from the big builders and their bosom buddies in Her Majesties Government.

Thanks King, I shall have read through that now :)

Edit: Just read it. Ah Steven Williams, he does love presiding over scams doesn't he! What a complete and utter scumbag!
