Discuss PVC T/E feeding garage at bottom of garden. in the Electrical Wiring, Theories and Regulations area at ElectriciansForums.net

4 metres above a garden is more than compliant.
In fact, the height rule is another of those quite open to common sense, just so long as vehicular traffic can't pass under it.

The bucket of the JCB might collide with it when their digging the trench for the SWA! lol

My workmate phoned NICEIC on the subject today. I Spoke to him about an hour ago. Same opinion as when I asked a couple of years ago.
Modern PVC cables are actually better today than in the 80s 90s regarding UV tolerance. Most manufacturers use carbon black in the sheathing as a stabiliser.
So general opinion under the circumstances is its acceptable.
Not the best way of installing agreed but certainly not dangerous, or life threatening.
Anyway I shall return and install an off cut of swa for her and get it signed off, no charge.
At least it will wee on that scumbags fire.
Thanks for the comments lads, much appreciated.

City and Guilds qualified.
Went into some spilge about being a proffesional and will only do the job the correct way.
You cant put a price on somebodys life love. It costs what it costs.
Anyway she sent him packing, and when he new Electricians were involved and aware of his price.
He said his fond farewells, riding off into the sunset Yeehaa !!

The Guy we are talking about is the the one who wanted to tuck an old lady up to the sum of 2.5k trev.
And the old girl has recently lost her husband after being together 60+ years.

He's a city and guilds qualified part P approved van man.
Not my kind of bloke. The lady has sent him packing.
I,m running an swa for her next week F.O.C.
Hope that clears things up mate.

At least we now know that someone good is on the case and is going to do things properly.

Still think a length of H07 would be easier for you mate.
HO7 is a good answer for sure.
I just prefer to get rid of the washing line look.
I often have swa about, so underground is a lot more pleasant to the eye.
Nothing wrong with either method just down to personnel preference, thanks for the comments and opinions.
And yes scum bag sums the guy up nicely.
