Hi all,

Anyone heard of the above? They've just rang me asking if my firm is able to take on any more work!! They say they are a nationwide building contractors and are looking for someone to take on jobs in my area.

All sounds a bit fishy to me but was wondering if any of you guys had heard of them/ had a call from them/ are on the books etc

Any info would be appreciated

As long as you dont have to pay to be on their books, then i cant see any reason why not.

Also depends on how good they are at paying :D

from QBS UK Ltd web site (The QBS membership fee is currently ÂŁ200 + VAT, payable in advance. ) i whould not touch it with a barge pole
then the fees on top

:confused::eek::mad:

More i look at it the more dodgy it gets, they just sent me this

To cover Electrical enquiries for the Chesterfield area

The administration fee of ÂŁ235.00 will be held until the QBS member has completed 4 work
enquiries and the QBS member has forwarded the commission in full to QBS .
(Reviewable annually)
TOTAL ÂŁ235.00

Members agree to make themselves available to receive enquiries for the said service in the allotted area/s for the duration of
their contract. The Member will make every reasonable effort to service those enquiries as soon as possible. {QBS does not agree
to guarantee the level of enquiries received by the member for the said service in the allotted area/s , nor does QBS guarantee
that the Member will be the only Member to receive enquiries of the said service in the allotted area/s).

So they want my card details now for a ÂŁ235 'admin' fee, then i get it back after i've done 4 jobs for them and paid them their comission.

So basically you pay them ÂŁ235 and you never hear from them again:eek:

Oh, and they only wanted the name of 1 referee, no mention of qualifications :D

Thanks but no thanks me thinks...

BEWARE FOLKS!!!!

I have just been contacted by these jokers whereby they are looking for someone to take over a contract where another company has been terminated due to (un-specified) health & safety breaches; :rolleyes:yeh right why then send me a contract that requires ÂŁ235.00 up front.

I will not be replying to these con men. It makes me mad; times are lean & these kind of parasites are trying to bleed us dry,I hope others do not get suckered in: be warned they are unlikely to come up with any work of value.

The IET forum also contains threads about this company & the general concensus is also not to touch them with a barge pole.

Hi

We where also contacted by QBS, at first all sounded too good to be true.
We asked the rep to give us contact details of someone already on the scheme so we could ask them how they found it, he offered the two mobile numbers off the site which i explained didn't seem credible.
We also credit checked them and the company is marked as a high risk
I'd steer well clear.

Hi guys signed up in October with QBS, later on found out it's a scam..... I was calling up reguarly but had no luck so decided to do a bit of investigating , this is what I found

The man in charge there is called sam Smeaton he lives at <removed by Dan> the info is on companys house.

I have been working around the area and decided to have a a look where "qbs" are based, I found was a small office block in a remote area , it didn't really look like a nationwide contractors office to me , I also noticed a man going into the house on springfield road which I presume is mr Smeaton who may I add drives a brand new porsche Carrera convertible with private plate too !!

So in all I would say this man is taking money from people and giving nothing in return and obviously living comfortabley from it !

Be aware of this company in the future and I hope trading standards catch up with him soon !

I have also been told watchdog are investigating with cooperation from the police ! !

Lets hope that they instigate criminal proceedings against these con artists and get them put away, other-wise once watch-dog is aired they will just trade under a different name.

hy i was approached by this company also and i was a bit sceptical it all sounds great.
i done a little research and found this blog site.i tried speaking to trading standards but the said they cant tell me anything.
well they wouldn't say if they were being investigated or not.
how do i find out this information about watchdog because i would like to speak to them my self and offer my assistance.

I have had personal dealings with these schlemeils, they are most definitely a con.

Did you have them ring up, ask you to ring 'their boss', then the guys wasnt there ended up talking to another fella, very approachable blah blah? The contractor that was doing work for them has moved on after having an argument with the gaffer? that old chestnut? Yes? Ringing any bells?

And the ÂŁ200 deposit which is totally refundable to you.

Have they emailed you their 'contract'? It's actually quite laughable.

Don't touch it with a bargepole - if you want insurance work, approach the insurance companies directly. I probably would have gone for it hook, line and sinker if their contract was a bit better and if the fellas on here had told me not to. Very convincing.

just had martin brown from QBS ring me this morning, missed his call so he left a msg..!! did not know who it was until i rang him back and he answered QBS!!
:eek::eek::eek:
