Agonist

I have just completed a basic PAT test qaulification ( PAT Testing Course Training - PAT Training courses for Pat Testing in the UK )

this allows me to inspect, test and report. If however i find a plug that needs replacing when carrying out an inspection...what course will allow me to legally change a plug for others? do you need a full electricians qualification, to prove you can change a plug? (don't get me wrong, i know how to change a plug, just want to make sure i am operating within guidelines/regulations etc)

thanks for any help.

It will really depend on the circumstances of where your working, who your working for.

All large companies will have a H & S plan and within that plan there should be guidelines of who can do what within it. There maybe certain criteria for electrical work, be it ever so humble as a plug top change, but you may not have it, ie a recognized electrical qualification, unless they recognize the C&G 2377 as one

If you a self employed contractor, then as long as your insurance covers you for electrical work, then you should be fine.

If you work for a one man band, then i'm pretty sure if you change the plug they will want you to rewire the place next week, multi-tasking it is called
