When carrying out Zs test for a particular circuit lets say Socket, what happens to the RCD protecing that circuit does it have to be ON or OFF? I know that the socket under test must be On and I know it is a live test.

Many Thanks.

You've answered your own question, it's a live test

So the RCD must be On!! Is it possible that the RCD might trip when doing the Zs test? It is a domestic installation?

Thanks

Heavens! This is a bit fundamental mate, it's a live test, so you must have a supply available at the socket therefore if the final circuit is RCD protected the RCD must be latched in the ON condition. Normally in order to do a Zs test the meter will need to be set on a No-trip range to prevent the RCD tripping under test.
