When a semi conductor diode is connected across an A.C. supply having a peak value of 5V, the peak inverse voltage across the diode is:-

a) 2.5V
b) 3.5V
c) 5.0V
d) 7.07V

Is it 1.414 x 5 ?

Cant remember what the rule was for this

Yes, you are correct. PIV=√2 x V[SUB]rms[/SUB] ... so the answer is 1.414 x 5 = 7.07V[SUB]pk[/SUB]

the Q stated 5v peak value, so my answer would be 5.0v
