In the era of the 11/12/13th edition regs copper, aluminium and steel conduit were recognised in the wiring regulations, so presumably it must have been a standard item in those days.
The copper conduit had soldered 'end feed' fittings and brass besa boxes the same as today's copper pipe fittings.
Copper pipe could easily be used as a conduit for switch and socket drops with brass tank connectors used to join on to the metalclad boxes.
Personally I'd go with the micc suggestion if they want copper.
Or spray paint normal steel conduit!
