iv got to go to a customer tomorrow to change an immersion, iv worked on these before and had no problems but iv not done one on a pressurised system, is there a specific way to drain the system down, if its beyond be i will get a plumber mate to come with me but its something i would like to try so i have the knowledge, thanks and any adivce appreciated.

let me know how it works out. i also have not worked on a pressured system. if you have to pick a plumber's brains, it shouldn't take long. LOL.
 
The pressurised side is the heating side of the cylinder. The immersion will be on the normal hot water take off side of the cylinder which is supplied by the tank in the attic, in this case you can drain down the hot water system as normal as you should not be touching the pressurised side of the cylinder. Unless of course it is the primatic type of cylinder which I have never worked on.

not sure what primatic is?!?!, iv not looked at the job yet but if thats the case then it should be like any other immersion change :)
 
If my memory is right the primatic type has a bubble in the middle to keep the heating and hot water separate and allows the hot water to be supplied at mains pressure. Not sure if they are used anymore.
