Bring it on...death of the ring cant come quick enough.....(note....spent 3/4 of a day today trying to find a break in ring continuity on the lives of a ring....PLASTERED IN JOINT in a flush box with cardboard cover...connectors....obviously wouldnt of happened if he'd used wago's:rolleyes:)

They thought of this a while back when trying to get rid of our 13amp sockets & using 16amp sockets. Other countries dont have ring mains. I have wired kitchens on 4mm2 or 6mm2 radials, saves worrying about any overloading when you'r not sure of appliances. I rewired my bungalow & have no ring mains. 20amp radial to bedrooms, 2 x 20amp radials to lounge & dining room & 2 x 4mm2 radials to kitchen = 6mm2 for cooker, regards piccollo

Good grief how do you get 2 6mm^ in a BS 1362 socket, 4mm^ is pig enough

Last 2 Victorian terraces I rewired were both 3 storeys with cellar.

Nightmare getting rings up the old studs so 4mm radial power for each floor.

I am using radial power more and more, better future proofing for DIY idiot!

I've never figured out the reason for the British love affair with ring circuits. Surely radials have many advantages....?

It is just the case of old habits mate. It was invented just after the war as folk lore tell for when copper was in short supply. I was brought up on ring final circuits but have to admit I personally prefer radials purely from the testing and fault finding side of things.

Like all things I suppose it is a matter of picking the best design for a particular installation
