Quiet contactors needed for some 20KW fan heaters

Guilty as charged, I have put L1, L2 & L3 stickers on 240volt socket outlets where distributing single phase from a three phase board especially when you only have a 12Kv supply and the tumble dryer and washing machine are side by side.

Nowt wrong with that for circuit tracing.....should be 1L1, 1L2, 1L3 though, for the circuit involved.

This was in a domestic environment and 1L1 etc would not mean anything to a French electrician or domestic user, the 1 at the front is superfluous with only one three phase supply into the property.

But this situation was and I was commenting on the sensible need for labelling in some situations if this was a three phase supply being distributed as single phase in a UK property.

We talk about 3 phase supplies here and usually it infers a commercial or industrial situation.

Maybe, I should have read a bit more into it, with such a small supply, although the comment was about general UK installations rather than a frog house.

Well this isn't in France.

We may not be part of the EU anymore, but we are still part of Europe where three phase domestic supplies are common, or are we saying that this is a UK only Electricians Forum.

All are welcome, but the forum language is English, which tends to limit French participation somewhat, since the French are only slightly less likely to learn a second language than the British.

Surprisingly I found it the other way around, more French speak English, especially in the under forties, they have the advantage or singing along to the most popular pop songs which are in the main in English.

Yes, I did get that the wrong way around. More French speak English than English speak French, but I suspect they are still amongst the lowest in Europe to speak English as well as their native language.
Exposure to music probably does help, but the last I heard, the French cultural ministry tries to restrict airtime of non French music.
