Hi all, i am just doing a quote for an architect, and in the electrical spec it says-
"All light circuits (not lamp circuits) should be fitted with appropriately specified dimmer switches"

What do they mean in regards to dimmers, light circuits and lamp circuits?
thanks

Are they referring to wall lights as lamps and main lighting as lights perhaps?

Not sure mate, there are very few wall lights present, and no 2/5amp sockets at all, it is a bit of a funny statement really, i could understand if they mentioned flourescant or something like that, but the whole thing is a bit odd, although could be very commonplace in architects specs?

Its the way its says, "light circuit" and "lamp circuit", why dont they just say "switch" instead?, what they could be implying is that i almost need to do a Lutron set up!, hehee
which is not the case btw.

cheers

just give them a call
I find they look on it better if you dont just guess what they want

Tough one that, just giving them a call, you don't want to seem ignorant compared with others quoting for the work.

I would call them and ask a different question first, one that is clearly not covered in their spec. Such as; what type of dimmers are preferable to them switch mode or transformer. then come on to asking which circuits they are considering as lamp and which are lights. Try and make it sound like a standard confirmation of terms phone call.

Hopfully they will be impressed and you might buid some rapport that helps you learn something to win the deal - Good Luck:)

I agree with Beaver just give them a call, better safe than sorry mate. Also most Architects like the fact that you are willing to communicate with them in my experience, the trick is to agree with what they are doing once you know exactly how and what they want doing.

Also as regards specifications some companies have a generic version and some sections do not always apply to every job, so just be aware of that pit fall.

Hope this helps fella :)

I have not a clue on this one. The fact that no one else is sure- means it is a very valid question.

And you might get a Brownie point if it turns out a mistake in the spec !
