Re: R.c.d fault????? Rcd not tests fine but does not disconnec under fault conditions

The test you do for a RCD is what you have done with a calibrated RCD test instument.

If all you tests are good then you have nothing to worry about.

Touching the CPC and neutral is not a test ,Wirepuller has covered this.

So why do you think this has caused rcds to trip in the past tony?

Re: R.c.d fault????? Rcd not tests fine but does not disconnec under fault conditions

Touching N & cpc together will only trip an RCD if there are leakage currents from other circuits on the cpc.

Cheers makes sense as only had light on in bathroom.

Re: R.c.d fault????? Rcd not tests fine but does not disconnec under fault conditions

What you are thinking of is a neutral to earth fault on a circuit that trips the RCD ,ill try and explain ,as the guys have said there is no inbalance between the L and N , way to look at it is like a perfectly balanced set of scales and the center being the cpc so anything that upsets the balance trips the RCD if you have isolated the supplies and the RCD didnt trip its as has been said no inbalance due to there being no current flowing how ever if the cables are grouped they can get an induced electric field in the cable though it being small could cause the RCD to get an in balance thus tripping the RCD
