hi, how do i test for continity at light? which switch position do i need to get a reading? Thanks

lucky guess.. could you run through the test again from how you would carry this test? there is a intermediate switch in the two way lighting circuit. thanks

I think you've got enough clues. Think about it. Draw a diagram of the circuit and all the possible connections from the CU to the lamp

The drawing shown is a standard conduit system intermediate and right, but in domestic it is wired differently, however the method of switching and operating it the same, it's a case of knowing how it works and thats what you need to understand and learn, school boy stuff really.

Thanks very much. so whilst testing for R1+R2 i need to switch the switches individually as murdoch said and test, iprove polarity on the light cicuit

Had up.. You have been taught a different way by you AM2 tutor.. In the other post you said you were a qualified industrial sparky.. You pulling the wool over our eyes? (or attempting to?)

This is not as rare a question as you might hope for from at least a 3rd year apprentices, I did an AM2 training day this week, 3 out four did not know how to wire this circuit, very few know ohms law, know how a 2 port zone valve operates, know what pfc is or what it measured for and compared against, the list is endless, what are the colleges teaching ?

thanks. i have been told a different way by my am2 prep tutor to wire the 2way intermediate
!

Take note of what your AM tutor tells you because it is not wired how 90% of the electricians on this forum would wire it including myself, we wire things in the industry accepted manner not in a way to test our reading and spec observation skills

Testing r1+r2 of the lighting is easy. Link from met and line conductor test at light, switch switches and record highest reading on sotr. The only point to note is the way the circuit is wired you will have to test the integrity of the cpc at all switches.

Obviously with parallel paths disconnected for a true reading . And MDJ you are very patronising just thought I would point that out to you if you didn't realise. I believe he was asking for advice not sarcasm.

Didn't mean to come across that way, sorry, just saying it is a conduit system and domestic different but pretty simple really, you took the post the wrong way, cheer up.
