Hello everyone.
I am new to the forum but believe that it could be great use to me with a couple of questions that I have.
It's so great to find a place where electricians are willing to help offer those of us who seek information, without acusation or disrespect. Particularly as it's free and a sunday.
So my question chaps is as follows:
''what is the purpose of this test and what do i relate it to in the regs''
I obviously refer to the thread title with this question.
Many thanking yous for your time and consideration with this
r1 and r2 and rn ( note lower case letters ) refer to the resistance of each conductor of a ring main , end to end. i.e measured at the CU. live ends, cpc ends, neutral ends .not to be confused with R1, R2, Rn
To check continuity of conductors in a ring final circuit relates to 612.2.2 p158
Awesome, thank you for your help their guys. Such a quick rapid response. Amazzin. May I follow onto that question with this one please?
R1 R2 purpose of test and how it relates to the regs
R1+R2 is the earth path for a fault current, the lower the value, the higher the current, so the faster the MCB/Fuse will disconnect.just putting it simply.
many thanks
To the both of you. Your willingness to assist others and share your vast experience with all of us will contribute towards stabilising the fragility of this industry. Without guys like you offering knowledge and guidance (for free, and on sundays) then the future would most definatley be bleak.
You are far too tactful.....................
