Radiator socket > plug socket

Hi,

We have electric radiators in our house. We have taken one of the radiators away, and we were hoping we could turn it into a socket now. Would this be ok? There is no thermostat on them.

No, its not on an "off peak" circuit and there is only one CU for the house.

Should be OK t fit socket but get an electrician to do the work if I was you, the circuit will need to be checked out and tested and certified on completion .

You would be altering the circuit so IF its not RCD protected it will need to be.

You might find it difficult to turn a radiator into a socket!

The spur feeding the radiator, however... that could definitely be possible!

There is a small chance that the original heater was low wattage and on the end of a long piece of 1.5mm2, protected by a 6A MCB at the CU.
Unlikely, but it might be too long to uprate the MCB to 16A for a 13A socket in terms of loop and voltage drop.
