can these cut through a swa and if so how long would they last keep playing with the idea of geting a set can pull in lots of cables in one day

Most of the hand held ratchet cutters will not do SWA. mind you when the armour is stripped there fantastic. I have th Knipex ones and wouldnt part with them.

The manufacturers tell you they are not for armoured cables, but I have to confess I have used mine for SWA. Up to about a 6mm4c they're ok, (blades do take a bit of stick though).

Depends if you want to have to shell out on another pair when the others are U.S from cutting armoured.

As Scot says on copper only they're mint.:)

A ton....thats bonkers....I paid less than that for the whole cutter last time.

One of these little fella's....

I've got the same ones and I have got to admit I have used them on swa as well, the biggest I've gone up to is a 4 core 35mm not a single knick in the blades :D

I have a wicked tool for SWA, cost about ÂŁ10 and replacement blades are around ÂŁ1.50, will cut just about any size and if I alternate arms, I can look like Popeye..................

Seriously though, those Knipex cutters look cool, but what do you use them for?

I heard someone talking about ratchet cutters in the tool shop, he was telling his mate that used them for SWA. His mate told his young lad to get his from the van to show. He then said he'd bought some German ones and had them years and are still fresh.

I was doing something at the time and also didn't want to but in so didn't get the make etc.

Would be good to know...

Also good for cutting strands of cable armour, although I try to restrict their use to copper.
