Hello, I’ve recently purchased a house, I noticed none of my plug sockets in one of my rooms are working including a switch for the outside garden light. After some investigating I found one of the sockets to have had the live wire blanked off . Am I right in assuming that this would break the circuit to the rest of the sockets and the light switch as the disconnected socket is the one closest to the fuse box?. Is it worth reconnecting this wire ?as I’m worried it’s maybe been removed for a safety reason . Any help is appreciated , thanks

It may have been disconnected for a reason.
I would not recommend reconnecting that socket until it Is confirmed the earth is connected.

It also is not the reason that the other sockets in the course are not working.

If recently purchased, you might have some recourse with the vendor, If none are working.

Also, the light switch should be on a different circuit to the sockets….. but not always. The lights may be fed from a fused spur off the socket circuit.

Can you show us the fuse board? Has it still got fuses, or breaker switches?
There might be something we can suggest from there.
