Does anyone on here use Rated People, Trust a Trader, My Builder etc, if so how easy is it to get work from ? and what one do you feel is the best ?

I have used rated people and I found it ok, however I was only using it for small jobs and part time work so I cant say how it would work if you wanted to get full time work from them.

I think they are in the process of changing their rules though, I was able to claim back the lead cost if I was unable to quote, this is something they seem to be phasing out. I'd check with them exactly what the rules are before signing up as they dont advertise them too well.

I'm not sure why everyone is dead against them. They have their use especially for someone starting out, also they are a business so they're not really going to offer it for free!

The best advice if you are going to use them is try and be first to buy the lead and then ring up straight away.

so be warned for a start

yeah....sat on their arse doing nowt....except riding the backs of them that are..

Chippy mate of mine used it and got quite a few jobs from it. You can narrow the area you want to work, a spark I know used it to get small jobs where he could pick up £50-£100 on his way home.

Rated People have since changed their policy so that now you cannot reclaim credits on jobs that are void. Ive already made a few strong worded emails and a few calls about my dislike of this.

Example, Last week I got a rewire through which cost be around £55 to purchase the details. Budget was under 3k. The guy would not answer the phone, emails or texts , no contact what so ever. I called Rated People and challenged them on this as they had not sold me contact details as promised. For all I know staff at Rated People could have made the details up. They refused to credit this and a few others and said they would be happy to cancel my membership, despite spending hundreds per month.

Where do we stand with this ? Seems to me thats against some sort of trading standards. They have took my money and provided NOTHING !

If nobody uses these scammers maybe they will go away, I wouldnt trust them ..

This is the thing Ray, They are complete scammers but I do draw in a lot of work through them..

So far this month Ive had 3 rewires from Rated People alone, all 2-2.5k jobs. They could argue that on the grand scheme of things my £55 is nothing but it just frustrates me, its wasted money.

I had a free trial with rated people. What an utter shambles !!

The leads in my area were minimal, maybe 1 a week in total ! and of poor quality when they did come ( rewire under a grand, put up a single light fitting etc )

They had no vetting process for tradesmen, so could be putting unqualified sparkies and gas fitters in touch with customers. I challenged them about this and they said it was nowt to do with them, the customer should be checking credentials.
I went to one quote for a fire alarm, I was the third one from rated people to do so. Neither of the other guys had asked to see the dist board or intake, asked about earthing or bonding, and had both agreed on a lesser system than was asked for on the fire officers risk assessment, to make it cheaper for the customer. Utter cowboys !

Also their system for keeping trade accounts secure was non existent in a real sense, I posted a ranty arms thread with more detail if anyone is interested to search.

Wouldnt go near them or any similar service within a bargepole, let alone within wallet distance. They are parasites that deceive customers and tradesmen.

well out of the £30 free i had to spend with rated people for joining i have had 1 job, 1 not answering any calls or emails and 1 i didn't get, i think i will continue to use this website but only for small jobs its ok spending 5 pound and not getting anything even though it annoys the hell out of me but i dont think i would go for bigger jobs like JRCProperty spending £55 on one job lead and getting nowhere.

How do you find the new rules JR? You know pay £480 and get back £600 to buy leads (so MUCH cheaper than before) but cant clain a refund on dud leads? Do you find it better or worse or too soon to say. If too soon, whats your gut instinct, better or worse?

so...if this is the case then surely there would be a case against them using their title..

`rated people`...misleading isn`t it....

and in fact arn`t they `misleading` anyway...duff/crap leads that is....

all sounds a bit leaderless to me....
