Think this is a case of use your own common sense.
To hell with normal installation regulations, what is the very last thing you want to trip?
Sorry but some regulations get in the way of good practice and common sense.

This is just my personal opinion.

Many years ago I was unfortunate enough to be duty engineer when we had a major fire. Before any of the fire crew entered the building I had to show the fire officer the main switchboard to show things were isolated and safe.
The only thing left switched on was the plant lighting, he was well happy with that!

Tony, Agree with your comment, and would like to go back to pre 1988 when fire alarms were straight off the bus bar via a bs88 fuse. But back to today, rcd suppling fire alarm on a comsumer unit gives possibilities of tripping from other circuits, as the fire alarm needs dedicated supply, an rcbo is not such a bad idea. It will only be supplying the fire alarm panel given protection to the panel and cable only, so therefore the should not be a problem with false tripping. As with BS and Governing bodies, BS give recommendations, and set bodies such as NICIEE and in our case BAFE, LPC etc set the regulations.
