I have rewired a small internet shop. I have tested all circuits with an Insulation Resistance Tester. I have >999 reading on all circuits.
About twice a day the RCCD trips out.

He has 3 Surge Protector leads which the computers are connected to. When I test the Protectors L-E & N-E my readings are 000 which means is a really low reading.

This could be the cause of the RCCD tripping out but surely the protectors dont cause this.
Spoken to the Manufacturer but got no help at all.

Do not want to risk removing the protectors as the computers could get damaged.

Hope someone can help

Defo worth researching about circuit/overcurrent protection when functional earths involved. All those PCs putting small amounts of current down the earth going to screw up the rccd's you have. !

How would you resolve the issue with regards to 30mA RCD not being suitable for this kind of premises, let alone a premises with even more PC in constnt use. Just curious :o

I remember reading an article on this somewhere, then saving a copy - not sure if this is any help, but it suggests ...

"Where it is necessary to specify a residual current device with a residual operating current of 30 mA in order to meet the requirement for additional protection, such as in a socket-outlet circuit, then in order to keep the expected protective conductor currents well below the residual operating current it may be necessary to replace the proposed single circuit by separate circuits each with its own RCD."

ya-the leakage will accumulate with pcs

you'll need a number of rcbo's if you're providing 30ma protection

'high-integrity earthing' may be another consideration on these circuits

i know surge protection downstream of rcds can be an issue, dunno any specifics though
