rcd not tripping

hey all

ive been called to a caravan where the power keeps tripping out. ive got a 30ma rcd, which feeds a db with main switch, zs of 16.6 and all circuits clear. when i drop the 10mm tails off the load side of the rcd and test on x1 im getting >40 and x5 >400. and >51mA. ive tried 2 new rcd's and all the same. however with the tails reonnected and test done at a socket im getting >40 x1 and 19 x5 and 46mA.

what is going on?

Ok so why am I getting these readings

again...
you says your getting 40ms at X1 and 19ms at X5...hows that a fail...
ramp it again....do it at several points...direct on the device...and at a point close to the device...
disconnect all circuits fed by the device before carrying out the test...

and to test the device at a point near to it...disconnect all other circuits fed from it apart of course from the one you are using to carry out the test...but disconnect all loads first..

All loads are disconnected I'm just going through the rcd

well if its taking 51mA to operate...then its a fail...isn`t it...
a healthy 30mA RCD to BSEN 61008 should let go at about 25-27ish mA

You using second hand RCD's?

Never used mcg but on a quick google they look identical to CPN and they are the worst RCD's ive ever seen. I'd even take protek over them and thats saying something.

Try one of the RCD's thats failed in the caravan next door - wont take 10mins to put it in, and then put the other good one back.

he was the last to work on this aparatus...so its his duty of care to sort it...
